The End of Batman Geek

First off, yes……yes, I really am ending or I guess I should say retiring the Batman Geek. Why? well the video post I think does a pretty good job of explaining why. I edited a few things out for time sake and I repeated myself a few times, which I had to cut as well. But I think everyone will get the point. And yes, I know this video is probably anti-climatic, this big build up to ending the BMG and at the end of the day, I just tell you I want to be me. What can I say…..if being yourself was easy we would all do it all the time, right? ;)

It’s been a long journey to get to this point…..maybe even most of my life to be honest….but regardless here I am. But that is not to say I am quitting vlogging, far from it. I may stop someday, probably will, but I am not going away….just BMG. I totally redesigned both of my sites. This one and www.heathparks.com. www.heathparks.com will become my main hub site, from there you can access anything and everything. It feels more “me” now. I would like to thank Cheryl for helping me out on a few of the logos, she really is just a great person. She taught me a lot, so much in fact that I was able to redo my vlog site this time all on my own. Which for me is a big deal, not HTML or CSS literate in the least.

My vlog site here is still not completely how I want it. But it will do for now.

Till we meet again…..vlog on!

The video I mention from MissB can be found here. If you have not seen it, watch it….it’s well worth it.

Heath Parks……pleased to meet you….

Day 30 of VloMo08

Yeah, I know I missed a few days, what can I say, life got in the way….it happens…. ;)

  • Well said, Heath. And RIP The Batman Geek. Twas something very special. And Long live Heath Parks dot com. Your fans are clapping. Here’s to new beginnings… :)

  • HEATHPARKS.COM! HEATHPARKS.COM! HEATHPARKS.COM!!

If I had a glass of champagne in my hand I’d toast you, but I don’t because it’s 0830 and I just got home from work…so I raise my bacon egg & cheez sandwich and say “Cheers! Bravo!”

I’m with you, Heath. Let’s go get “real”.

What a helluva way to wrap up VloMo.

    Rebirth.

    Rockin’.

  • I hear ya Heath. I have found myself in a similar boat (contemplating brand and message) and its driven me into taking a (longer than expected) break from vlogging … I’m glad to see you’ve managed to just rebrand and press on.

I’ve enjoyed batmangeek.com since its beginning, and well continue to enjoy heathparks.com.

    vlog on!

  • Excellent video.

It’s fascinating how so many people start making video with grand dreams of feature films, stardom, TV deals and all that hoo-hah, but then come to realise that’s not what it’s all about.

You have grown beyond the need for a mask, which is something to celebrate, at least until you take up costumed crime-fighting, anyways :)

  • The batmangeek.com or heathparks.com…for me it has always been about Heath Parks and always will be. Your videos have always been fascinating to watch. They are very personal and filled with heart and nobody makes me laugh as hard as you do.
Your new site looks great. I wish you all the best in your new beginning. Will the real Heath Parks, please vlog on!

  • That was clearly very heartfelt. A lot of those thoughts have gone through my mind many times. In the end, I think, it’s about joy. If the process of making a video brings you joy, then do it. When the joy stops, the videos should stop too. While it’s great to have audience, its about you and your process. Of course the great thing about videoblogging is that sometimes the “audience” becomes more, they become friends. So, with that in mind, there’s likely always going to be joy in making the videos because in the end you’re just drafting a video letter to your friends.

  • @Robert – Thanks, I always appreciate your comments..

@missbhavens – B you were one of the very first people to comment on my vlog and I have always enjoyed watching you and I can’t wait to see your wedding vlog!

@David M – I have missed you vlogging, I mean that. I have always, always liked your stuff. I hope all is well and we should get together again soon!

    @Frank – I don’t think anyone wants to see me in spandex… ;) Or maybe they do…..

@Paul – I am glad I can make you laugh….glad to see someone else has a warped sense of humor ;)

@Rob P – Absolutely….I have gained so much through vlogging and developed so many relationships, it just blows me mind away…I guess I am just one of the weird people out there who just like making vids for the sake of making them…for the saking of learning something new and exciting…

  • To hell with “branding” and “marketing” ourselves. I’m so, So, SO sick of that crap. I’ve heard from others, and understand their point, that they need to maintain a little nugget of themselves that’s private, so they have their vlog “persona,” but personally I’ve always felt that it’s when we have that transparency, vulnerability, when we’re >REAL< – that’s the best ever. Hurray for you, Heath! Raising my scone to you & cheering! As MissBHavens said, let’s go get real.

  • Great thoughts.
I’ve just had my annual freakout about it all.
These were good things that I needed to hear to remind me what it’s all about.
    Like Rob said, Joy.
And I like what you said about your revelation when watching that video of Bekah. You both share that – that amazing ability to be real on camera.
Whatever your site is called, the essence of what you do is You. so maybe your name is a better fit for it.

  • [...] what you might call a raging stalker crazy insta-fan of Tyson’s vlog, because it looks Real (as discussed recently by my friend Heath), and because Tyson’s talking about art, the value of art, what it means to be an artist, and [...]

  • Here’s to HeathParks.com and many years of “real” videos.
